Based in Derbyshire, the company has a purpose designed extrusion, Injection Moulding, Foiling and Composite Door making facility and substantial warehousing. In 2005, the company doubled the size of its warehouse and offices, demonstrating its continued long term investment. Eurocell’s window, door, and ancillary systems make up a total replacement and new build package portfolio.
Since Kern first met Eurocell in 2005, the relationship has gone from strength to strength. In February 2006 Eurocell placed the first order. The project was to develop a packaging solution which would combine offline banding, automatic poly bagging and labelling, for 6 m collations of upvc profiles, including facias and soffits, which are used in external cladding. The manual process previously used for bagging these profiles at Eurocell involved 16 people, so there were simultaneous goals of reducing labour and increasing production.
Kern’s solution was to configure a flexo 500s from the Hugo Beck range, proving the most cost effective solution to handle the required product speeds. The system was installed and fully functional at Eurocell in early 2006, and the company is more than happy with the results 3 years on.
In May 2009, Production Manager Ian Toplis said, ‘Kern offer the best technical support of any company I’ve ever dealt with’.
Due to the success of the Kern / Eurocell relationship, Works Manager, Peter Brown from Eurocell’s Composite Door department placed an order for a bespoke transit packaging machine, which was installed recently into their brand new production facility.
This project was to shrink wrap a door and frame pack in Polythene film to prevent the ingress of water & dirt for product enhancement at point of sale. The sleeve wrapper & shrink tunnel from the LP range, models SF 2000B NF & SE2000B shrink wrap even their largest doors at 2.1m.
