Is a farming business located in the New Forest. Run by husband and wife duo, Simeon and Lisa, they have earned the reputation for being an innovative business supplying only the best quality products. Established over 16 years ago, their main business is farming over 1500 acres, producing a variety of arable crops such as wheat, barley, oil seed, rape and maize. They have recently introduced a small flock of pedigree Zwartbles sheep. These striking black and white sheep (their name means black with a white blaze) thrive on the rich herby pasture and sea air unique to their home at Keyhaven. Soon Lisa decided to venture into retailing and in 2012 launched a ‘pop up farm shop’ called Lisa’s Larder, supplying fresh meat and produce straight from the farm and specially selected local and regional products.
The overwhelming success of the shop has seen the introduction of a ‘box scheme’. This enabled them to supply meat boxes to their customers on a more regular weekly basis. For this latest venture to succeed it was essential that the correct packaging be used. Increased shelf-life was the vital component to avoid unnecessary wastage. Explains Lisa “Our domestic vacuum chamber
continually let us down. Its poor build quality wasn’t fit for purpose and caused the loss of valuable time and money.”
In March 2014 Simeon and Lisa acknowledged the need for an alternative product, something more robust and reliable. During an exhibition Lisa’s path crossed with the KernPack team.
